College reaffirms support for full-day kindergarten

Feb 17, 2012

Following the release of the Drummond report, the College fully supports the government’s roll-out of full-day kindergarten for four and five-year-olds and recognizes the strong evidence basis for investing in early learning for the healthy future of our children.

The success of this program has come from a staffing model where registered early childhood educators (RECEs) work in collaboration with teachers to plan and deliver inclusive play-based programs that promote the well-being and holistic development of children.

Together they use their respective professional knowledge and skills to apply the science of early childhood development to curriculum and learning environments.

Both teachers and RECEs are regulated professionals who are accountable to the public and governed by professional and ethical standards.
