Child Care Modernization Act, 2014
The Ontario government introduced the Child Care Modernization Act, 2014 (Bill 10) to the Ontario legislature on July 10, 2014. Bill 10, which had similar provisions to Bill 143, includes amendments to the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007 (the Act) as required as part of the mandatory five-year review of the Act.
The legislation passed third reading on December 2, 2014 and received Royal Assent on December 4, 2014. The College is excited that Bill 10 grants the regulation-making authority for a continuous professional learning program and the accreditation of programs in early childhood education. The College will provide members with updates as the legislation’s proclamation is announced.
