The College’s Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) program complements and formalizes the ongoing professional learning many RECEs do every day. Engaging in ongoing professional learning is important to early childhood educators.
The CPL program is a framework and formal process to help RECEs increase their knowledge and skills and ensure quality professional practice throughout their careers. It also communicates to employers, families and the public that RECEs are members of a distinct profession that values ongoing professional learning.
Continuous Professional Learning for RECEs involves two steps:
New members in their first year of membership with the College are required to complete Step 1: Expectations for Practice Module before their first renewal.
After completing the Expectations for Practice module, all members are required to begin Step 2: CPL Portfolio Cycle in their next membership year.
The CPL Portfolio Cycle requirements include:
**Effective April 2020 to March 2022, all members have the option to defer compliance with their CPL program requirements for one membership year due to COVID-19. The option to defer compliance is available upon annual renewal. Members may only select this deferral option once. **
