What Happens If You Do Not Complete the Renewal Process on Time

If you do not complete both of the following requirements by your renewal due date, your renewal will not be fully processed and will be considered late.

1.    Complete and submit the Membership Renewal Form, along with supporting documentation as applicable, and
2.    Submit payment of the full annual membership fee

What makes a renewal late?

  • A renewal is considered late when any one or more of the following circumstances apply to a member’s renewal:
    • The Membership Renewal Form was not submitted by the renewal due date.
    • The Membership Renewal Form was submitted but had missing information, which the member did not complete and return to the College by the renewal due date.
    • The member was required to submit supporting documents with their Membership Renewal Form, but did not submit them (or submitted only some of them) by the renewal due date.
    • The member submitted supporting documents that had missing information, which the member did not complete and return to the College by the renewal due date.
    • The annual membership fee was not paid in full by the renewal due date.
    • Payment for the annual membership fee was submitted but could not be processed by the College (e.g., insufficient funds, credit card expiry, etc.) and the member did not resolve the issue so that the fee could be processed by the renewal due date.

When your renewal is late because you have not paid the annual membership fee and/or provided a completed Membership Renewal Form (with all supporting documents submitted, as applicable) by your renewal due date, the College will initiate a process to suspend your Certificate of Registration. If you fail to respond as required, the College will suspend your Certificate of Registration for either non-payment of fees or failure to provide information.

Members whose Certificate of Registration is suspended are not permitted to practise the profession until they clear the suspension.

Was your renewal late because you did not pay the annual membership fee in full, or your payment could not be processed by the renewal due date?

  • If so, you must also pay a late fee ($50 Canadian dollars) in addition to the annual membership fee.

How does a member remove the suspension for non-payment of fees or failure to provide information?

  • The member can remove the suspension by applying for reinstatement. See the College’s Reinstatement Guide for more information about the steps to take.
