Reinstatement Guide

In order to return to the practice of the early childhood education profession in Ontario, former members must have their Certificate of Registration re-issued to them. Reinstatement is one way a former member can have their Certificate of Registration re-issued.

Reinstatement is a condensed process for reinstating a Certificate of Registration. It means that former members do not have to re-apply and go through the full application process like a new applicant.

Since it is a condensed process, former members only have a three-year window in which they can apply for reinstatement. After that time, their only option is to re-apply to the College and go through the same process as new applicants. This approach is used to protect the public – when a former member is absent from membership and from the practise of the profession for a lengthier time, they must undergo an expanded process so the College can determine whether they meet current requirements for registration.

Does the reinstatement process apply to my circumstances?

  • Eligibility and requirements for reinstatement vary depending on the reasons for why a former member no longer holds their Certificate of Registration with the College. Begin by selecting the scenario from the following table that applies to your circumstances.
