Proof of Professional Standing Guide

​​​​​​​​Applicants are to declare whether they are, or have been, registered/licensed by another regulatory or licensing organization in any profession in any jurisdiction.

  • For applicants completing the Application Form for the Individual Assessment of Educational Qualifications, see Section 9 of the form and the 'Section 9: Professional Registration (Licensure)'​ section of the Application Guide for the Individual Assessment of Educational Qualifications.

If the answer is "yes", applicants are required to have the Proof of Professional Standing Form completed and submitted to the College as part of the application process.​​


  • The applicant must complete the first page of the form and then send it to the regulatory/licensing organization with whom they hold or held registration or licensure.
  • The regulatory/licensing organization must complete the rest of the form and then send it directly to the College.

How to Complete the Proof of Professional Standing Form

The ​Proof of Professional Standing Form:

  • Can be completed electronically or in writing.
    • ​In either case, you must download and save the form to your computer before entering information or printing a copy.
  • Must be completed in full in order for the College to proceed with the application process.​

Consent to Release Information

​The applicant must complete this section first and then send the form to the regulatory or licensing organization.

This section of the form provides the:

  • Registrar of a regulatory or licensing organization with background information about what the Proof of Professional Standing Form is and why the applicant is requesting the information from them.
  • ​​Applicant with a place to indicate consent for the regulatory or licensing organization to release information about the applicant to the College.
    • The information released to the College includes the information that the regulatory or licensing organization provides on the form and in any follow-up correspondence with the College.

Professional Registration/Licensure History

This part of the form must:

  • Be completed by the Registrar of the regulatory or licensing organization or by a designate of the Registrar.
  • Include responses to all seven questions.
  • Include the date and organization's official seal in the designated place on the form.
  • Include the name and contact information for the person who completed this section of the form.

How to Submit the Form

The licensing or regulatory organization must send the completed form directly to the College. To do so:

  • Review the Proof of Professional Standing Form to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Send the completed Proof of Professional Standing Form, along with any relevant documents (as applicable), to the College by e-mail or mail.

If yes, note that:

  • You will receive an automatic reply to your e-mail. If you receive the automatic reply, it means that the College received your e-mail. If you do not receive the automatic reply within 24 hours, check your "junk mail" folder. If the automatic reply is not in your "junk mail" folder, re-send your e-mail or contact the College.

How the College Uses the Information

The College uses the information provided in the Proof of Professional Standing Form in its assessment of whether an applicant meets the following requirement for registration.

An applicant's past and present conduct must give the College reasonable grounds for the belief that they:

  • Are mentally competent to practise the profession, and
  • Will practise the profession with decency, integrity and honesty and in accordance with the law, including but not limited to the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, the regulations under that Act, and the College's by-laws, and
  • Have sufficient knowledge, skill and judgment to practise the profession.

For applicants who are currently licensed or registered in early childhood education with another province or territory in Canada, the College also uses the information to determine whether the applicant is eligible to apply to the College under the Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) (which is also referred to as labour mobility).

As part of the process, the College may follow-up with the regulatory or licensing organization about the information provided on the form or in supporting documents from the organization.
