Candidate Statement
I am a proud Early Childhood Educator with 25 years of experience in the sector. In 2023, I will be completing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Studies.

I have spent most of my career working in child care centres, where I held both educator and leadership roles. My experience in the sector also includes five years as a RECE in a Full Day Kindergarten program with the Ottawa Catholic School Board. For the last six years, I have worked at Global Child Care Services in Ottawa, where I’ve been afforded the opportunity to be the director at three of the agency’s programs, serving children from infancy through school age. More recently, I have moved into the Director of Operations position, providing support and mentorship to all program directors to ensure the ongoing provision of high quality, nurturing care and education to young children across all programs offered by Global – child care centres, licensed home child care and the EarlyON program.

I have a strong belief in the importance of professional development and lifelong learning, and I know that our sector is made stronger by RECEs who continuously add to their skill set and remain current. I believe in the power of mentoring employees, colleagues and students, and the important impact of advocating for and supporting children and families.

If elected, I believe my education, experience and passion for excellence in our sector will allow me to make a valuable contribution to the work of the Council.

Candidate Statement
Greetings my fellow citizens,

As a Childcare Advisor for Special Needs Resourcing with the City of Cornwall, I am announcing my bid to run for council of the college of ECE to fulfill three goals:

1. To help you and the college come up with strategies to continue being in good standings with the college of ECEs, while following ethical guidelines, and continuous professional learning opportunities

2. To be a leader in the ECE community, to make members feel more valued, and to help create more pathways for minorities.

3. To question the college of ECE and to continue my own professional development in order to have better understanding of the goals and strategies of the college of ECE.

Accomplishing these goals will allow me to use my platform as a RECE to enhance the knowledge that I share with others. Sitting just shy of 30 years old, with over 13 years of experience working with children, participating in community events, completing a bachelor’s degree in early Learning, should help solidify my qualifications and display my passion as a RECE. At this age, I believe it is a bonus as I sit right in the middle between the newcomers and the veteran RECEs. I look forward to this journey and hope to be able to share it with all the RECE’s in the Eastern Ontario Region.

Thank you,

Justin Lefebvre

Candidate statement
To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure what would make me stand out above anyone else as a candidate. I feel like I have a unique view on life and can easily see the other side of things when presented with information. The reason I have decided to run for a position on council is the possibility of helping to make a difference for our small community and our families. I believe that our professional standards and training are what will set our children up with a curious mind and the love of learning. Their first interactions with education will set the tone for a majority of how they will view school as they get older. I come from a small town in Northwestern Ontario and have found my forever home in a different small town in the Northern parts of Renfrew County. Working as a Registered Early Childhood Educator in this area means I have the opportunity to train new ECE’s heading out on field placement from Algonquin College. I feel like this opportunity will help me continue to provide quality ECE training while in this fast-paced training environment we have found ourselves in. In my 8 years I have noticed a change in the profession and want to play a key role in supporting the growth and development of what we consider to be best practice.
